People who sign up can “Build a Better World” when summer reading club kicks off on Wednesday, May 31, at the Hancock County Public Library.
Between 4 and 7 p.m. in Greenfield, Home Depot will be on hand with crafts for kids to build and take home. The Greenfield Fire Dept. is parking its fire truck out front for kids to tour, and they can visit the Greenfield Police Department's DARE vehicle nearby.
Hungry families have the option of purchasing dinner from the Wild Boar BBQ food truck.
Inside, kids are invited to read to service dogs from Bentley's Buddies & Friends and leave with a free frozen treat. It's an opportunity to sign up for the reading club using library computers and check out a stack of books. When children read for twenty minutes and log their time online, they'll receive incentives as time accumulates, including entries in grand prize drawings.
Hancock County residents of all ages may join the summer reading club from home at hcplibrary.org. Teens and adults have their own clubs, earning an entry in prize drawings for each book they read and log online.
Sign-up for free children’s events opens this day. Sign-up for teen and adult events is open now.
Reader dogs from "Bentley's Buddies and Friends" will share stories with children (4-7 p.m.) in our GBC Community Room. We'll have computers set up for easy summer reading club sign-up with staff ready to assist.
